- The 4% safe withdrawal rate from the Trinity Study (Cooley, Hubbard and Walz, 1998)
Real investment returns vary from year to year. Inflation does not stay constant. Tax laws change. Your actual retirement outcome will depend on factors this calculator cannot predict.
The results you see are starting points for your own research. They are not guarantees.

References to historical S&P 500 returns or inflation averages on this website are based on publicly available data. Past market performance does not guarantee future results. Markets go up and they go down. A good decade of returns can be followed by a difficult one.
